Abstract:
This research aims to study the optimal ordering and reordering point policies
for medicine and medical supplies in a community hospital tends to have shortage of
case study. Due to lacking of properordering and purchasing procedure, the hospital
often affects with medicine and medical supplies. Thus, this work applies ABC-VED
Analysis method to identify items that have significant impact on inventory cost. The
AV class is chosen to study in this work because it has the most significant impact on
the medicine and medical supplies inventory. The medicine and medical supplies
inventory policies are analyzed, inventory volume and significantly to determine order
quantity,using (s, Q), (s, S), (T, Q), and (T, S). policies. Moreover, Monte Carlo simulation
technique is applied to determine the policy that yields the minimum shortage in the
system. The appropriate policies are the s, Qmin s, Qmax s, Smin s, Savg s, Smax, which are
sub-policies of the (s, Q), (s, S) policies. There new policies can reduce the total cost
of 13 experimental drugs and medical supplies with not shortage as well as reducing
remaining inventory.
