Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to study the educational status of secondary schools in the East Coast provinces (Chonburi, Rayong and Chacoengsao) in the academic year 1981. Aschool survey method was employed to collect data concerning secondary school status. The obtained data was analyzed by computing the educational status index of each school (computed from the ratios of variable with number of students. There were twenty variables such as number of school teachers, school areas and shop areas etc. The education status index was ranged from 0 to 200 and the median was 100), comparing some variables with some standards of the Ministry of Education and the Asian Regional Institute for School Building Research and describing teachers qualification and their major-minor subjects, students clubs, school equipment and elective vocational subjects. Major findings were as follow: Thirty seven secondary schools level M.1 M.3 showed: 1. The educational status index was ranged from 42.90 to 218.22. Panitvitaya School of Chachoengsao had the highest educational status index and Mabtaputpunpitayakarn School of Rayong had the lowest one. Panitvitaya School. And Kao Srichung School of Chonburi had the educational status index over 200. There were six schools in Chonburi, one school in Rayong and three schools in Chachoengsao which had the educational status index between 100 200. There were twelve schools in chonburi, seven schools in Rayong and six schools in Chachoengsao which had the educational status index below 100 (the median of scale 0 to 200). Most small schools had the educational status index higher than large schools. 2. Most schools had no specific room such as gymnasium, agricultural arts shop, home science laboratory, industrial arts shop, arts shop, cafeteria and counseling room. Most teachers hold a Bachelors Degree. The ratios of teacher per students were suitable (1 : 14). Most students clubs were about academic subjects and most schools offered elective vocational subjects about agricultural arts. Twenty-one secondary schools level M.1 M.4, M.S.4 M.S.5 showed: 1. The educational status index was ranged from 69.61 to 152.21. Bangpakong Sorvonvitayayon School of Chachoengsao had the highest educational status index and Panomsarakarm Panomadulvitaya School of Chachoengsao had the lowest one. There were two schools in chonburi, one school in Rayong and four schools in Chachoengsao which had the educational status index between 100 200. There were eight schools in Chonburi, three schools in Rayong and three schools in Chachoengsao which had the educational status index below 100 (the median of scale 0 to 200). The number of toilets and the number of libarial books were lower than standard. Most teachers hold a Bachelors Degree. The ratios of teacher per students were not suitable (1 : 17). Most students clubs were about academic subjects and most schools offered elective vocational subjects about agricultural arts.
