Abstract:
The purpose of this research was investigate relationship between working condition, organizational policies for prevention and management workplace violence, socials support and effect of workplace violence among nurses in primary care hospital. Study subjects included of 168 nurses who work in primary care hospital, Samutprakarn province. The research instruments is questionnaire.
Results revealed that most of them were female (97.0%). Age were between 20-30 years (33.9), average age were 37.2 year olds, most experience of them were between 1-5 years (30.4%), mainly work in inpatient department (42.3 %) mainly never trained about management workplace violence (76.8%) and most of violence from patients (85.1%). Risk level of workplace violence from working condition, organizational policies for prevention and management workplace violence and socials support were middle level (64.9%) (54.8) and (51.8), respectively.
Personal factors including gender, age, section, receive training about management violence and size of hospital did not correlate with effect of violence to physicals, effect of violence to feeling for the event, effect of violence to attitude. Experience and violence from patient and commander were significantly associated with effect of violence to physicals at 0.05 level (p = 0.045), (p = 0.037) and (p = 0.013), respectively. Moreover time to work per day and overtime per week were significantly associated with effect of violence to physicals at 0.01 level (p = 0.005) and (p = 0.001), respectively. Overtime per day was significantly associated with effect of violence to physicals at 0.05 level (p = 0.046)
Working condition was significantly associated with effect of violence to physicals at 0.01 level (p = 0.001) and significantly associated with effect of of violence to feeling for the event at 0.001 level (p < 0.001). Organizational policies for prevent and manage workplace violence and social supports were significantly associated with effect of violence to feeling for the event at 0.01 level (p = 0.002) and (p = 0.001), respectively and were significantly associated with effect of violence to attitude at 0.001 level (p < 0.001).
From the obtained results hospital administrator and healthcare workers should be determine policies and systems for prevention and management workplace violence together for reduce level effect of violence, with focus on working conditions improvement, determine policies for prevention and management workplace violence and socials support.
