Abstract:
This Research paper aims at two objectives; 1) to study the contents and precise teachings in Kiṃsukopama Sutta 2) to analyze the practice of Vipassana Meditation in the Kiṃsukopama Sutta. This research is a Documentary Research by studying Theravādin Buddhist scriptures, namely Tipitaka, Atthakathā, Pakornvises and related documents, then the collected data was analyzed, compiled and written in descriptive type, finally reviewed by experts.
The results of the study showed that the contents and important principles in the Kiṃsukopama Sutta, read that 4 enlightened Bhikkhus has shown how to practice Vipassana meditation by introducing 4 important principles; 1) six sensual contacts which mean the connection, touch, or combination of the internal and external sensual organs and consciousnees caused contact through consciousness of eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body and mind. 2) The five aggregates attachment means clinging on the forms, feelings, perceptions, thought, consciousness, 3) The four main elements which are earth, water, fire, and wind, 4) The arising and disappearance of all Dhamma. When following these important teachings, practitioner will be able to be a person who has a purely good view.
Analysis of Vipassana meditation exercise in Kiṃsukopama Sutta was found that Vipassana meditation practice in the Kiṃsukopama Sutta emphasis on the implementation of the 4 Foundations of Mindfulness with the cultivation of contemplating the state of true nature of body, feelings, mind and Dharma by knowing the rise and fall of the six sense bases, five aggregate clinging, four main elements as they really are, realizing the name and forms continually until the mind comprehends the nature of impermanence, suffering, and the non-self of all Dhammas. With faculties mature faculties, and advance insight knowledge, the the practitioner can achieve the Noble Path, and Fruits, becoming the Noble One respectively.
