A case study of the optimization of JD s global logistics network based on supply chain management theory
Abstract:
In the rapidly evolving landscape of global e-commerce, optimizing logistics operations is crucial for maintaining competitive advantage. This study focused on JD.com and investigated how logistics technology application, warehousing management, and transportation network contribute to logistics efficiency. The specific objectives of the study were: 1) To examine the relationship between logistics technology application and logistics efficiency of JD.com. 2) To examine the impact of warehousing management on logistics efficiency JD.coms operations. 3) To examine how transportation network influences logistics efficiency of JD.coms
global logistics system.
This study adopted the quantitative research design, and data were collected through a structured survey distributed to 500 participants involved in JD.coms logistics operations, with 390 valid responses analyzed. The study tested three hypotheses using correlation and multiple regression analyses to examine the impact of each independent variable on logistics efficiency.
The findings indicate that logistics technology application has a significant positive relationship with logistics efficiency, suggesting that continued investment in advanced technologies such as AI, ML, and IoT enhances operational performance.
Effective warehousing management also positively impacts logistics efficiency, highlighting the importance of strategic warehouse placement, automation, and sustainable practices. Additionally, the optimized transportation network significantly contributes to logistics efficiency, emphasizing the need for efficient last-mile delivery solutions and sustainable transportation methods. Based on these findings, the study recommends that JD.com should further integrate advanced technologies, optimize warehousing strategies, and enhance transportation networks to sustain and improve logistics efficiency. In conclusion, this research provides actionable insights for JD.com to optimize its logistics network, ensuring sustained operational excellence and competitive advantage in the global e-commerce market.
